All Day Enthusiasm – Keeping Event Staff Motivated

Whether it’s a product launch, a trade show event, a PR stunt or any kind of marketing campaign, if you hire promotional staff we know that you want a team who will stay motivated and enthusiastic throughout the event. However, they are only human, and even the keenest brand ambassador will benefit from a little motivational assistance now and again – especially at slow moments or at the end of the day. Here’s some tips and advice to help you keep energy and motivation high.

It starts with hiring the right people – enthusiastic, confident and energetic individuals who have the right skills for your event. For example, do you want staff who are good at presenting to crowds and giving product demonstrations to a gathered audience, or do you need staff to engage with your client base one-to-one? Hiring people with the wrong skills means that they won’t be as confident, which can lead to motivation slipping – and that shows. We maintain a database of high-quality staff with comprehensive details that help us to match the right staff – with the right skills – to the right job every time.

The second most important tip is to take care of your staff. Make sure that there’s plenty of water and snacks available to keep them hydrated and refreshed, and give them regular breaks away from their duties so that they don’t get too tired. If you need them to be on their feet for a long time, it’s a good idea to bring along some disposable foam insoles that they can slip into their shoes if they start to get footsore! Whilst your promotional staff will no doubt come prepared for the day, offering them additional comforts is an excellent motivator, simply because it shows that you care.

At many events, especially trade shows, there is a natural ebb and flow to the number of people passing by; as the end of the day draws nearer, it’ll often get quieter. It’s naturally difficult to keep your energy flowing when there isn’t anything to do, so you should keep your staff busy. At a trade show, you might take advantage of a quiet period to send one or two staff out around the trade show floor – they can discreetly check on the competition for you, or engage attendees in other areas to direct them to your booth.
